EDUISLAND II
Magical Infohub
This is EduIsland II's information center for all newcomers to Second Life. It has lots of events coming and also offers magic-related content such as magical brooms and other items including clothes for sale.
SLolar Central
A facility run by Kevin Jarret and Nancy Sharoff, providing free temporary residences for K-20 educators exploring Second Life.
Literature Alive! and the Womens Studies Classroom
Operated by Desideria Stockton, the Literature Alive! project seeks to provide quality content to SL residents by focusing on the creation, development, and dissemination of literary resources in Second Life. Furthermore, the program seeks to help new RL college faculty use the resources within SL to teach effectively and ethically.
The main home of Literature Alive! is located at the Literature Alive! HQ on Lukekini Island. This complex includes the Garden Classroom for Faculty Development, the Composition Classroom, the Information Station, the Non-Profit Showcase Gallery, and, coming soon, the Technical Writing Lab and the SLOWL (SL Online Writing Lab). The HQ provides tools, examples, displays, and resources for free. There is also a gift shop where items can be purchased from their inital vendors. Literature Alive! is non-profit and does not receive income from the sales of these tools.
The group operates a multi-building complex on EduIsland II that includes The American Literature Classroom, The Women's Studies Classroom, The Women's Literature Classroom, the Bradley Science Center, and the Connection Corner (links out to other educational spaces). Occupational Therapy Center
The OTC, operated by 'The OT Connection at Jefferson' from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA, USA, provides "skills for the job of living" and includes helping people of all ages do what is most important to them - their "occupations"--the things that occupy their time and which have meaning to them in their everyday lives.
Carl F. Spackler Hall
This is a residence hall of sorts for several members of The Center for Advanced Virtual Education. Keep an eye out for more from The C.A.V.E., a complex of several buildings here on EduIsland II designed to facilitate conversation, networking, and community within Second Life.
Discovery Educator Network
DEN is the Discovery Channel's online service supporting teachers and schools.
Math Playground
MP has online math games for elementary and middle school students.
Teacher Networking Center
The Teacher Networking Center is a place for educators to meet, share, collaborate and work together. Meetings will be scheduled where educators of subject area and grade levels can get together in order to discuss real life issues in education. Topics will include classroom management issues, lesson plans, web sites to use in RL instruction and RL educational issues, as well as SL education. Please join the Teacher Networking Center!
